I saw the LG 27GP950 and Gigabyte M28U recommended everywhere for the HDMI 2.1 stuff, but then some threads say 1440p is basically the same at 27 inches. My logic was to go 4K for future-proofing but I'm on a $600 limit and don't wanna waste cash if the visual jump isn't real on a smaller screen...
I finally grabbed the Gigabyte M28U 28-inch 4K 144Hz for 500 bucks and its amazing!!
Honestly, 4K at 27 inches was a huge letdown for me. You pay a massive premium but unfortunately the HDR on most budget 4K panels is pretty garbage.
Facts.
^ This. Also, it really comes down to how close you sit to the screen. If youre like right in front of it, the extra sharpness might be worth it, but for most people the cost of 1440p makes way more sense. Honestly, both guys have a point here. 4K looks super crisp but it drains your wallet for pretty minor gains on a small panel. If you want to save money and still get a great experience, just look into any of the high refresh rate screens from Dell. They usually have amazing warranties and the build quality is solid for the price. Basically you cant go wrong with a decent IPS panel from them if you want something that just works without breaking the bank. Just keep an eye on the sales and youll find a steal soon enough.
