im so confused right now. i finally convinced my wife to let me buy a console and now i have both a ps5 and a series x in the living room but i have no idea how to get a headset that works for both. i keep hearing that headsets dont always cross over because of some usb chip thing? im a total newbie at this so sorry if this is a dumb question but i need something soon because my neighbors are complaining about the late night noise.
- needs to work on both consoles
- budget is around 150 bucks
- wireless would be great but not a dealbreaker
- comfortable for big ears
anybody have a recommendation that isnt super complicated to set up?

Congrats on the new consoles, living the dream! Its honestly a mess with compatibility since Sony and Microsoft use proprietary stuff. If you want something that covers both, you pretty much need a headset with a USB dongle that has a physical switch for PS and Xbox modes. Honestly, check out the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Multi-Platform Gaming Headset. It works on literally everything and stays within your budget if you find a sale. The ear cups are decent for bigger ears too. Just be careful with cheaper generic stuff, it usually ends up being a headache to set up. Sticking to a reliable brand is safer since you dont want to deal with constant connection drops or audio lag while you're trying to keep the peace with your neighbors.

Building on the earlier suggestion, are you planning on chatting with friends or just solo gaming? I love the HyperX Cloud III Wireless for the battery life, though you need separate dongles.

Ugh, feel your pain. I have both consoles stacked up too and it is a nightmare. Honestly, just grab the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX and call it a day.
