Im building my first high-end rig for some serious 1440p gaming and honestly I cant wait to get this thing running. I have a 14700K and Im stressing about the thermals since I heard those chips run hot. My budget for paste is pretty flexible but I dont wanna spend 30 bucks on some magic snake oil. Right now Im torn between Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, Noctua NT-H2, and maybe Arctic MX-6?
My main needs:
- Easy to apply since Im a newbie
- Long lasting so I dont have to repaste every six months
- Needs to handle high heat output
Is the Kryonaut really worth the extra cash or should I just stick with the Arctic?

Honestly, skip the Kryonaut for a 14700K! It dries out way too fast for daily use. I honestly love Noctua NT-H2 10g Thermal Paste because it is incredibly reliable, easy to spread, and lasts forever. If you want something cheaper, Arctic MX-6 4g Thermal Compound is basically the gold standard for performance vs price. Just remember, a pea-sized dot in the center is all you really need!

If you want top performance without the headache, grab Cooler Master MasterGel Maker 4g High Thermal Conductivity. It is thick, easy for beginners, and actually lasts. Just make sure your cooler mounting pressure is solid, cuz those chips are beasts. Dont overthink the fancy stuff, you really dont need it.

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, if you want something that performs consistently without the pump-out effect on high-wattage chips, I would look at Kingpin Cooling KPx 3g Thermal Compound. It is super thick and handles high pressure well. Another solid pick is Thermalright TFX 2g Thermal Compound because its viscosity makes it tough to work with but excellent for long-term thermal dissipation. Just keep it simple.
