So I finally managed to grab a PS5 and now I'm realizing my old 1080p screen just isnt gonna cut it anymore. I'm trying to find the sweet spot for a 4K 120Hz monitor since I play at my desk and a 55 inch TV is way too big for my space. My budget is sticking around $600 to $800 but honestly the more I read the more confused I get.
I was looking at the Gigabyte M28U because its priced so well but then I saw some reviews saying the HDR is pretty much fake and it makes the colors look washed out in darker games. So then my logic was maybe I should just go for the Sony Inzone M9 since it's built for the console but then I see people complaining about the blooming and the stand taking up way too much room on the desk. I'm really just looking for something that actually makes the PS5 features pop without spending $1500 on an OLED that might get burn in from the UI. Should I be looking at the LG ones or is there something else I missed? I want to pull the trigger by next Tuesday so I can have it for my long weekend.

I spent weeks obsessing over dimming zones for my PS5 setup! If you want real HDR without OLED prices, look at the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 32 inch 4K UHD 165Hz Mini-LED. It totally fixes those blooming issues the Inzone has cuz of the mini-LED tech.
- 1196 local dimming zones
- Super punchy HDR
- HDMI 2.1 is flawless I love mine for dark games! Just make sure your desk is deep enough for that stand tho...

Reminds me of my hunt last year. I tried the M28U first but sent it back when the colors just looked flat. Eventually settled on the LG 27GP950-B 27 inch 4K UHD Nano IPS and its been a decent middle ground. Couple takeaways:
- The Gigabyte M27U 27 inch 4K 160Hz is usually better than the M28U.
- Skip the HDR marketing talk because it wont look great anyway.

Late to the party, but honestly agree with the previous folks about skipping the marketing hype. I spent a fortune on high-end displays back in the day, thinking specs were everything. Learned the hard way that a fancy feature list doesn't matter if you hate the panel's physical footprint or the interface feels clunky. My current setup uses a fairly standard 4K IPS panel I grabbed on sale, and honestly? It gets the job done for my evening gaming sessions.
- Prioritize your desk space first. If the monitor base is too deep, you will regret it every single day regardless of the contrast ratio.
- Dont stress about the HDR labels. Realistically, unless you are jumping up to high-end tech, it just isnt a game changer for console gaming.
- Check the actual HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on whatever you pick. Some older models claim 2.1 but are limited, which is super annoying when you want that 120Hz smooth feel. I just focused on build quality and pixel response time. Dont overthink it too much, it is just for gaming after all.
