Finally finished my first build with an RTX 4060 but I'm still stuck on an old 60hz office monitor and it looks kinda terrible honestly. I dont have a ton of cash left after the GPU so looking to stay under $180 if possible. I've been looking at the AOC 24G2SP and the Gigabyte G24F 2 since they both seem to be around the same price right now. The AOC has that adjustable stand which is nice because my desk is a bit cramped but I've heard the Gigabyte might have better colors for stuff other than just gaming? I mostly play Valorant and some Cyberpunk. I'm also seeing the ASUS TUF VG249Q1A on sale but the stand looks cheap so idk if it's worth the trade off.

My main things are:

  • Budget: absolute max $200 including shipping
  • Size: 24 inch is better for my small desk space
  • Timeline: trying to buy by Sunday while the sales are still live

Is the 4060 even gonna see the difference between 144hz and 165hz or should I just go for whichever is cheapest? Kinda leaning toward the AOC but I keep seeing people complain about dead pixels on that model lately so im second guessing everything now...

Jumping in here because I totally agree with the shoutout for the Gigabyte G24F 2 23.8 inch SS IPS 165Hz! It really is a fantastic little panel for the money and the colors are actually pretty vibrant for a budget screen. Honestly, that 4060 is gonna be a 1080p beast, especially in Valorant where youll be hitting high frames easily. Don't sweat the 144hz vs 165hz thing too much... literally nobody can tell the difference in a blind test lol. Just get the best panel you can afford! If you're trying to stay strictly under that $180 mark and want to save some serious lunch money, keep an eye on these too:

  • MSI G2412 23.8 inch IPS 170Hz is often on sale for like $130 and it's surprisingly decent for the price.
  • Acer Nitro XV240Y M3 23.8 inch IPS 180Hz is another budget king if you catch a flash sale this weekend.
  • ViewSonic OMNI VX2428 24 inch IPS 165Hz is super underrated but hits that price point perfectly. Since your desk is tiny, honestly consider grabbing a basic monitor arm down the line. It's a total game changer for small spaces because you get all your desk real estate back and you dont have to worry about crappy stands! But for now, if you can snag that Gigabyte or even the AOC 24G2SP 23.8 inch IPS 165Hz on a good deal, just go for it. You are gonna love how smooth Cyberpunk feels compared to that old 60hz office brick... it's like a whole new game!

Yo! Just saw your post and i am so excited for you!! Building your first rig is seriously the best feeling ever and that 4060 is gonna be amazing for 1080p gaming! Honestly though you really gotta be careful with the quality control on some of these budget ones tho. The AOC 24G2SP 23.8 inch IPS 165Hz has a fantastic stand for small desks but those dead pixel stories always freak me out lol. For something super reliable you should check out the Gigabyte G24F 2 23.8 inch 1080p 165Hz 180Hz OC instead because it is so snappy and the colors look incredible for the price! Love it because it feels way more premium than it costs. Maybe check out the MSI G2412 23.8 inch IPS 170Hz too if you want another solid choice that stays under budget. High refresh is gonna blow your mind and the Gigabyte is such a safer bet!!

Honestly, I would suggest being careful with that cheaper ASUS model since the stand offers zero height adjustment. For your small desk, you might want to consider the Gigabyte G24F 2 23.8 inch SS IPS 165Hz as it tends to have more consistent quality control compared to AOC lately. The AOC 24G2SP 23.8 inch IPS 165Hz is a great performer, but make sure to check the return policy because dead pixels are definitely a known issue you should watch out for. Regarding the 4060, you wont really feel a difference between 144hz and 165hz, but that card will easily max out both in Valorant... Cyberpunk is a different story tho.

  • Gigabyte G24F 2: Best colors and build consistency
  • AOC 24G2SP: Best stand but risky panel lottery
  • ASUS TUF VG249Q1A: Cheap price but bad ergonomics TL;DR: Go with the Gigabyte G24F 2 23.8 inch SS IPS 165Hz. Its basically the most reliable pick under 200 bucks right now.
