So I finally saved up enough to buy this massive pre-built PC because I wanted to play games like Cyberpunk and those big open world games with everything turned up to the max. I spent like three thousand dollars on the tower alone but now that its all set up it looks kinda blurry or just... not great on my old monitor Ive had since college. I keep hearing people say I need a 4K monitor to actually see what I paid for but honestly looking at the specs online just makes my head spin.
Like what is the difference between 144hz and refresh rate and G-sync?? I just want the colors to look pretty and for it to be smooth when I move the mouse around. My budget is probably around $800 to maybe a thousand if its really worth it but I dont even know if thats enough for the good stuff. I went to the store and the guy tried to sell me an OLED thing but Im scared of the screen burning out or something because I saw a video about that once and it sounds like a nightmare.
Is there like a best one that everyone uses for high end stuff? Im sorry if this is a really basic thing to ask I just dont want to waste more money on the wrong screen and have it look bad after spending so much on the actual computer. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who has no idea what they are doing? I'm hoping to buy something by the end of the week...
Congrats on that beastly new PC. Since you spent $3k on the tower, your old monitor is definitely bottlenecking everything and making things look blurry. If you are worried about OLED burn-in, I would suggest sticking to high-end IPS or Mini-LED panels instead. You get amazing colors without the constant stress of the screen failing, which is a total nightmare tbh. I have used a few setups and these are my top picks for staying under budget while getting that premium feel:
