I'm upgrading my gaming station and looking for recommendations on 4K monitors for a dual setup. Budget is around $1500 for both. Primary use will be gaming (mostly FPS and RPGs) with some video editing.

What's the sweet spot for refresh rate vs response time? Should I prioritize IPS or VA panels? Any brands to avoid? Also wondering if two identical monitors are better than a primary gaming monitor paired with a secondary productivity one.

Appreciate your insights!

Honestly, I'm gonna go against the grain here. Getting two totally different monitors sounds like a good idea on paper, but in practice? It's kind of a headache. Dealing with different scaling, color profiles, and even just the physical height difference between a 32" and a 27" drives me crazy tbh. Especially for video editing—you want your colors to look the same when you drag a window from one screen to the other. If I were you, I'd just grab two of the LG 27GP95R-B. They're usually around $500-600 these days, so you're well under that $1500 budget. It's a 4K Nano IPS panel with a 160Hz overclock—colors are punchy enough for editing but it's fast enough for any FPS. If you really want that extra screen real estate, you can actually fit two Gigabyte M32U units into your budget if you catch a sale. Matching monitors just makes for a much cleaner workflow - no weird cursor jumps or mismatched whites. Just my two cents tho.
