Im actually losing my mind with this crappy old monitor I have right now. The ghosting is so bad in Valorant that I cant even tell where the enemy head is when they wide swing, it just looks like a blurry mess and I keep dropping rank because of it. Honestly I'm just done with it and I need an upgrade like yesterday because I have a local tourney coming up and I refuse to play on this garbage anymore.

My budget is around 500 bucks but I need 1440p and 240hz for sure. What is actually the best 1440p 240Hz monitor for competitive shooters that wont give me these stupid motion issues? I just want something crisp...

Honestly if you want something that just works without any drama, look at the LG 27GR83B-B 27-inch Ultragear QHD 240Hz. I was in the same boat as you a while back, terrified of buying another monitor that ended up having terrible motion blur... I play a lot of CS and Val too and this thing is super clean. The ghosting youre seeing on your old screen is basically the pixels not changing colors fast enough to keep up with the frame rate, but this LG uses a really high quality Fast IPS panel that handles those fast swings perfectly. I have been using mine for a few months now and Im really satisfied with how stable it is. No weird flickering or dead pixels, just solid performance. The reason I suggest this over some others is the motion clarity is just very consistent across the board. Some cheaper 240Hz panels get really messy with overshoot when you try to use the fastest response settings, but this one is tuned properly. It fits right in your budget and feels like a massive step up from older tech. Just make sure you use the DisplayPort cable it comes with to actually get the full 240Hz refresh rate tho. If you need any help with the calibration settings once you get it let me know, I found a couple tweaks that make the motion even crisper.

Saw this yesterday and it really reminded me of my old setup... the ghosting was so bad I thought my eyes were failing. Absolute game changer when I finally swapped. I spent forever looking at motion clarity charts before finding something that actually worked for my budget. If you want to stay under 500 bucks, these are pretty reliable options:

  • The Gigabyte M27Q X 27 inch 1440p 240Hz is a solid choice because it uses a very fast Sharp panel. Its probably the best value for money if you want that specific refresh rate.
  • Ive also used the HP Omen 27qs 27 inch 1440p 240Hz. Its frequently on sale and performs way better than the price suggests... usually under 400.
  • Look for Fast IPS panels specifically to avoid that blurry mess you're dealing with.
  • Dont crank the overdrive to the max or youll get inverse ghosting. Middle setting is usually best.

I went through like three different screens last year trying to find something that didnt turn Valorant into a blurry soup. Kept returning them because the overdrive settings were either too slow or had crazy overshoot ghosting. Eventually realized you dont need to spend a grand to get good motion clarity if you stick to the right brands. Here is what worked for my budget:

  • Go with Asus, their strobing tech is actually insane for motion clarity.
  • Look at MSIs rapid IPS stuff, they have some seriously fast response times lately for cheap.
  • Avoid VA panels entirely, the black smearing will drive you crazy in dark corners. Honestly, just get any decent fast IPS from those brands and you should be good to go. Saved my rank for sure.
