im honestly just so fed up with my iphone 14 pro dying by like 2pm every single day and it makes me so anxious when im out and about especially since i rely on it for my commute home in london. my logic was that the battery would last at least through a full workday but it just doesnt anymore and i feel like i cant even leave my desk without a cable attached. i tried this cheap no-name one from amazon but it gets way too hot and i feel like its gonna fry my phone or something.

so i was thinking about maybe getting one of those magsafe ones so i dont have to carry a cable around? but then i heard they charge really slow and im worried if im using it while charging itll just stay at like 10 percent forever. im looking to spend maybe 50 or 60 pounds tops because i need something reliable before my trip next weekend. i just need something that isnt a huge brick but will actually give me a full charge while im on the move. should i just stick to anker or is there something better out there that doesnt feel like a literal toaster in my pocket? i just need something that works reliably every time without me having to baby it...

TL;DR: Skip MagSafe because of the 30% energy loss to heat. Grab a wired bank with 21700 cells instead. Honestly, MagSafe is such a disappointment for heavy users. You are basically paying for massive energy loss through heat, which is why your phone gets so hot and stops charging properly. It is just bad physics, unfortunately. If you want something that actually fits in a pocket without being a brick, I would check out the Ugreen Nexode Power Bank 10000mAh 30W. It uses high-density 21700 cells, which is the same tech in Teslas, so it stays tiny but still handles 30W PD charging without breaking a sweat. I have had issues with those cheap toaster banks too, and they are usually just poorly regulated. Another solid pick is the Sharge Flow Power Bank 10000mAh. It has way better thermal management than the no-name stuff. It is kinda annoying how hard it is to find a bank that doesnt lie about specs these days, but these two are legit.

> im looking to spend maybe 50 or 60 pounds tops I totally get that! I was in the exact same spot before my trip to Spain last summer and really didnt want to blow my budget. I ended up finding the INIU Power Bank 10000mAh 22.5W Fast Charge and honestly its been an absolute lifesaver!! It cost me like half of what you were thinking and its been so reliable. I was kinda worried about the toaster in your pocket thing because Ive had cheap ones melt before but this thing stays totally cool even when Im using my phone. I used it to navigate around Barcelona all day and it never let me down once! It even has this little paw print light for the battery level which is just so cute tho lol. Seriously if you want to save some cash but still feel safe then this is the one. Its amazing!

Unfortunately MagSafe is just too slow and gets hot. I had issues with cheap ones.

  • Anker 533 Power Bank 10000mAh 30W It actually works and wont overheat.

Just saw this thread and honestly, ive been down this rabbit hole so many times over the years. In my experience, most brands like Belkin or Baseus talk a big game about pocketability but then you actually get the thing and it feels like a heavy rock in your jeans. I remember buying a high-end Mophie once and it was great until it basically died after six months of heavy London commuting. Before I give you my actual pick though, I just wanted to check a couple things because the brand differences matter more than people think:

  • Are you looking for something that just gets you back to 100% once during the day, or do you need multiple full charges out of it?
  • Does it absolutely have to fit in a trouser pocket, or are you usually carrying a bag where a slightly thicker but faster-charging model might work better? Knowing that helps narrow down if you should stick to the ultra-compact stuff or move towards the high-output brands that handle heat a bit better.

Re: "Just saw this thread and honestly, ive been..."

  • I have spent way too much time in the DIY battery modding scene over the years, and your struggle reminds me of a total nightmare I went through with my old man. 1. He once tried to improve his phone life by wiring a massive high-capacity drone battery directly to the charging port because he was tired of his phone dying during long hikes.
  • It was this huge, heavy silver brick held together with gaffer tape and sheer hope. Tbh, it looked more like a science project gone wrong than a power bank.
  • He ended up accidentally shorting the whole thing while we were out in the middle of nowhere, and the smell of ozone was so strong I thought the grass was on fire. 4. We spent four hours trekking back to the car without any GPS just to see if the phone was salvagable, but the internals were basically toasted and it never turned on again. Funny how things go south when youre just trying to stay powered up... anyway, good luck with the search.
