Ive been staring at screens for hours and my head hurts. I need a PS5 monitor under 500 bucks by Friday for a local tourney and my desk is tiny so nothing over 27 inches. Torn between the LG 27GP850-B and the Gigabyte M28U but prices keep jumping around. Which one actually hits that 120Hz sweet spot without ghosting?

In my experience the Dell G2724D 27-inch QHD 165Hz is the real winner for PS5. Flawless 120Hz support and saves a ton of money.

  • Zero ghosting
  • Great for small desks

I was in the same boat last month and went with a safer bet. Ive been really happy with the reliability of the ASUS line. It just works well without any flickering issues.

  • ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ 27-inch WQHD 165Hz is rock solid for PS5.
  • Supports the 1440p 120Hz mode via HDMI perfectly.
  • Build quality is super sturdy. Ngl, having no ghosting makes a huge difference in fast games. Zero complaints so far.

Just saw this thread and honestly elfdmwyldj is totally right. Ive been through a few different setups over the years and going with a brand known for reliability is such a lifesaver. It basically takes the stress out of the whole process.

  • You dont have to worry about the panel dying after a few months.
  • Build quality usually handles being moved for tourneys way better.
  • No weird flickering when switching games. I'm really satisfied with my current setup because it just works every time I turn the console on... no tinkering needed. Good luck with the tourney on Friday!

Honestly forget the headache and just grab the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD 27-inch 165Hz. I have used a ton of panels and this one really stands out for its color accuracy and fast response times, which is exactly what you need for a tournament setting.

  • The color gamut is just better than most IPS panels in this price range, so games look way more vivid.
  • Response time is snappy. No ghosting issues when playing competitive shooters on the PS5.
  • The stand is surprisingly compact if your desk is really cramped. Everything just works well out of the box and the build quality feels premium compared to other budget options. You wont be disappointed with how smooth the motion looks at 120Hz. Seriously, skip the stress and just get it setup before your tourney.

Honestly if your budget is strict I would suggest sticking with the LG 27GP850-B 27-inch Ultragear QHD 165Hz. It handles the PS5 120Hz signal perfectly over HDMI 2.0 now that Sony supports native 1440p resolution. The M28U is nice for 4K but it might push your $500 limit and that extra inch actually matters on a tiny desk. Be careful with the stand on the LG tho, its kinda deep so make sure you have the desk depth.

  • Make sure to enable Performance Mode in PS5 settings
  • Watch out for Nano IPS glow in dark rooms
  • Use the high speed HDMI cable that came in the console box I have seen the LG go on sale for way under $500 which saves you cash for the tourney. If you want to save even more money maybe consider the Gigabyte M27Q 27-inch QHD 170Hz. Its usually under $300 and handles motion well.
