What is the best 1440p ultrawide monitor I can get for a computer with an RX 7900 XTX graphics card? I am so sorry if this is a really basic question but I am completely new to this and honestly feel like my brain is melting looking at all these specs.

So basically I finally saved up enough money from my part-time job here in the UK to build my first ever real gaming PC. My cousin helped me pick out the parts and he kept saying I should get the Radeon RX 7900 XTX because it is a beast and will last me a long time but now I have the card sitting in its box and I realized I have a really old 1080p screen from like 2015. It feels kind of silly to use such a powerful card on an old monitor so I want to upgrade to one of those wide ones that curve. I think they are called ultrawides?

I have been trying to research but everything is so complicated with the different panel types. Some people say OLED is the best but then I read about burn-in and that sounds scary for someone who doesnt know how to fix things. Then there is IPS and VA and honestly I dont know the difference at all. I just want something that makes games like Cyberpunk 2077 or maybe Forza look really detailed and smooth. My budget is probably around £800 but I could maybe go up to £900 if it is really worth it.

I am planning to buy this by the end of the month because I have a week off work and I just want to sit and play games all day. Is there a specific brand I should look for? Or certain numbers for the refresh rate that work better with AMD cards? I heard something about FreeSync too but I'm not sure if that is a monitor thing or a card thing. Just really looking for some guidance so I dont waste my money on something that doesnt actually fit the card I bought...

Just saw this. Honestly, I spent years swapping screens because I was terrified of OLED burn-in since I do a lot of office work too. For a 7900 XTX, you want high refresh rates without the stress. In my experience, these two are solid:

  • LG UltraGear 34GN850-B 34 inch 144Hz Nano IPS: My old daily driver. The colors pop like crazy in Forza and its super reliable.
  • Gigabyte M34WQ 34 inch 144Hz KVM IPS: Way cheaper and honestly just as good for gaming. Both use FreeSync so theyll sync perfectly with your AMD card.

Stumbled upon this today. Ngl, im super satisfied with my high-end IPS setup for peace of mind. Quick question tho, is your desk in a really bright room? That changes things quite a bit. Heres why I'd go IPS:

  • Zero burn-in risk compared to OLED.
  • The Acer Predator X34 GS 34-inch 180Hz IPS looks stunning.
  • Your card supports FreeSync Premium Pro, which stops screen tearing so games look butter smooth.

I remember when I first swapped my old 1080p panel for an ultrawide; it felt like a massive shift in how I experienced games finally. Since you have a 7900 XTX, you need a display that handles high bandwidth. I personally used the Alienware AW3423DWF 34-inch QD-OLED 165Hz for a long time and honestly the contrast is unmatched. Burn-in is a valid concern, but most modern screens have mitigations like pixel shifting that work well. The OLED panel is great for Cyberpunk because the blacks are actually black. If you prefer a more traditional setup, the LG UltraGear 34GP950G-B 34-inch Nano IPS 144Hz is a decent IPS option. It wont have the same ink-like blacks, but the colors are accurate and there is zero risk of image retention. For an AMD card, look for FreeSync Premium Pro... it basically syncs the refresh rate to your GPU to prevent screen tearing.
