Honestly, Im losing my mind with these cables everywhere. My living room looks like a total disaster zone because I have two PS4 controllers and they both seem to die right in the middle of a marathon session, especially now that Ive been replaying RDR2 for the last two weeks. I just want a decent charging station so I can finally clear off my coffee table and stop tripping over charging cords.
I went down a rabbit hole on Amazon and read about that official Sony dock, but then I saw a bunch of reviews saying it stops working after like three months or the pins get stuck. Then I looked at the PowerA ones, and while they seem cheap, some people are complaining that they dont actually charge to 100 percent or that the connection is super finicky if you dont line it up perfectly every single time. Im just so annoyed at this point because I dont want to spend fifty bucks on something that is gonna break in a few weeks, but I also dont want some cheap plastic junk that ruins my controller ports.
Im in the UK and I was hoping to find something reliable under 30 quid since I dont want to dump a fortune into a console thats already on its way out, even if I still use it daily. Im also on a bit of a tight schedule since my brother is coming over for a weekend of gaming at the end of the month and I really want the setup to look clean for once instead of this rats nest of wires. Does anyone actually have one that has lasted them more than a year? Seriously, am I just doomed to keep dealing with these usb cables because every charging dock seems like a total gamble...
> I just want a decent charging station so I can finally clear off my coffee table and stop tripping over charging cords. I totally feel your pain! Cables everywhere are the worst, especially when youre trying to enjoy a long RDR2 session. Honestly, forget those cheap ones that break in a month. I have been using the PowerA DualShock 4 Charging Station for about two years now and it is absolutely fantastic. It just works, every single time. It is super easy to drop the controllers in without any of that annoying fiddling around. Best part is it keeps everything looking clean and organized on my shelf. You can usually snag one for around 20 quid, which is perfect for your budget! Itll definitely be ready in time for your brother's visit. Seriously, grab one and reclaim your living room!
@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, just grab the Nyko Charge Base for PlayStation 4. It uses a simple USB dongle to protect your ports and has served me reliably for years.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally get the cable nightmare. Honestly, I gave up on the charging ports on the bottom of the controller years ago because they get so loose. You really gotta watch out for those docks that use the extension port, they put way less stress on the actual usb input. My setup has been solid for like two years now, just keep the contacts clean and dont force them if they dont seat right away.
