Are there still high-quality third-party headsets for PS4 and PS4 Pro?

I've been rocking my PS4 Pro for years now, but my old headset finally gave out on me. With everyone focused on the PS5, I'm finding it hard to tell which third-party headsets still offer full support for the older consoles. I really need something with decent 7.1 surround sound and a comfortable fit since I wear glasses. I've looked at some newer SteelSeries and HyperX models, but I'm worried about whether the wireless dongles or specific audio features will work properly with the PS4 hardware.

Does anyone have a current recommendation for a high-quality wireless set that doesn't compromise on sound? I'd love to know what you guys are still using!

Totally agree! when my set died, i basically found the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Wireless handles 7.1 perfectly on PS4 Pro.

  • fits great with glasses
  • solid legacy support

Just found this thread! Ok so i've been testing gear for years and honestly it's disappointing how many new sets ignore legacy hardware. For PS4 Pro, you need a dongle that handles the 7.1 processing itself... unfortunately many newer '3D' headsets fail here.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I understand wanting to stick with what works for the PS4 Pro. Over the years, I have tried many headsets, and in my experience, reliability is king. While some love the other brands, I have always found Astro Gaming A50 Wireless Base Station to be the most dependable option for consistent 7.1 performance without any weird connection drops. I wear frames too, and the build quality here is just sturdier than the cheaper plastic sets. It is a bit of an investment, sure, but I have had mine for ages and it never fails to sync with the legacy USB ports. Just make sure you update the firmware via a PC first so the base station recognizes the console properly. Its a solid, stress-free choice if you want something that just works every time you turn the system on.
