Honestly so fed up with my current setup right now. I spent way too much money on this cheap magnetic ring I found on Amazon and it keeps peeling off whenever I pull my phone out of my pocket. Just this morning it got stuck to the inside of my jeans and my phone fell screen-first onto the sidewalk. Thankfully I have a screen protector but I had a mini heart attack thinking the glass was shattered. I commute about an hour on the train into the city every day and having a reliable stand or grip is kind of a dealbreaker for me since I watch videos to kill time. My budget is probably around 50 bucks because I already wasted money on that junk one but I need something that actually stays attached.
Im looking for suggestions for MagSafe stuff that wont let me down. Maybe a decent wallet or a solid finger loop? I just need something that actually sticks to the back of the phone and doesn't feel like it's gonna fall off if I look at it wrong. Does anyone have a wallet that stays on tight? Or maybe a ring holder that isnt complete garbage? Everything I see on these websites looks like marketing fluff and I honestly cant tell what is real and what is just another cheap piece of plastic. I just want to be able to prop my phone up or hold it securely while Im standing on the train without worrying about it hitting the floor again. If you guys have anything that youve been using for a while that actually holds up to daily abuse I would really appreciate a heads up because im honestly just about ready to stop using magsafe entirely...
Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, are you using a case with the magnets built in, or is the ring stuck to a plain case? That makes a massive difference. Before you buy anything else, check out these solid options:
Late to the party but definitely skip the cheap stuff. I swear by the Anker 620 MagGo Phone Grip for holding on tight, or try the Peak Design Mobile Wallet for daily security.
Ugh, that sounds like an absolute nightmare. I have been there before, and honestly, those cheap adhesive rings are just asking for trouble. My phone has taken a few tumbles thanks to weak magnets too, and it is the worst feeling ever. I have had issues with half the stuff I bought on Amazon just peeling off after a week of actual use. It is super frustrating when you just want something reliable for the commute. Before I throw any recommendations your way, are you using a case with built-in magnets or is the phone naked? Also, do you strictly want a wallet combo, or would you prefer a dedicated kickstand that is just meant for holding the phone up while you are on the train?
That sounds like such a mess. I went through the exact same thing last year when I tried saving a few bucks on some off-brand ring holder. It ended up sliding right off my case while I was getting off the train and I almost lost my phone to the subway tracks. Honestly, once I switched over to the name-brand ecosystem stuff, the difference in magnetic strength was night and day. If you want something that stays put, I really think you should stick with the bigger companies. I started using a wallet from Apple MagSafe Wallet and it barely moves even when I shove my phone into my pocket. The magnets they use just feel way more secure than those third-party knockoffs. For a grip or a stand, you really cannot go wrong with anything from PopSockets PopGrip for MagSafe. It is super convenient because you can just pop it off when you need to charge, but it is strong enough to keep a good hold on the phone while you are watching stuff on the train. My advice is to stop buying those cheap adhesives. You end up spending more replacing your screen protectors or potentially the phone itself. Just save up a bit and grab something from a reputable brand and you will be way better off. Good luck with the commute, hopefully this helps you avoid another heart attack moment.
