Are budget third-party screen protectors safe for expensive iPhone models?

Hey everyone! I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max after holding onto my old XR for way too long. It is an incredible device, but I have to be honest, after paying for the phone and AppleCare plus, I am feeling a little bit of sticker shock. I know I absolutely need a screen protector because I am terrified of micro-scratches, but I am seeing a massive price gap in the market that I cannot quite wrap my head around.

Is there any risk that the adhesive on the really cheap brands could damage the oleophobic coating on the iPhone screen over time? I would hate to peel off a protector in a year only to find the actual glass feels weird or attracts more fingerprints.

Sooo, I totally feel u on that sticker shock. Paying fifty bucks for glass at the Apple Store is highkey a ripoff imo, but I get why youre nervous about such an expensive device. I have been using third-party glass on my Pro phones for years and while they're mostly fine, I think you gotta be careful with the absolute cheapest ones.

The adhesive is basically safe. I have never seen it ruin a screen, but idk but maybe some brands use lower quality glue that leaves a bit of residue. It wont permanentely damage ur coating tho.

Watch the fit! Since the 15 Pro Max has those tiny bezels, some cheap protectors with black edges might actually cut off part of ur screen or mess with the sensors if they arent aligned perfectly.

Touch sensitivity is usually fine, but the reallyyy cheap ones lose their smoothness fast because the oil-resistant coating is super thin compared to premium ones.
