honestly fed up with this old samsung tv i've been using, it keeps flickering every time i try to play anything in 4k and im ready to just switch to a dedicated monitor. it's making me so anxious that it's gonna die right in the middle of a game session. i need something for my ps5 that actually supports the 120hz stuff without being a total pain to set up. i have a $500 budget and i really need to get this sorted by friday before my roommate moves back in and takes the other screen. what is the best gaming monitor for ps5 under $500 that actually works...

Re: honestly i feel your pain with the flickering...

  • yeah flickers are the worst. i've been using the Gigabyte M28U 28 inch 4K 144Hz and it has been super reliable, no complaints at all. before i suggest more budget deals tho, how much desk space do u actually have? u can save some serious cash if you're okay with a 27 or 28 inch screen instead of something massive.

honestly i feel your pain with the flickering... i had a screen go black on me mid-boss fight once and it was basically the worst feeling ever. i spent ages looking for something reliable because i dont like taking risks with my setup. unfortunately a lot of the cheaper 4k monitors i tried felt really flimsy or had weird color issues.

  • LG 27GP850-B 27 Inch Ultragear QHD Nano IPS - super smooth for 120hz and feels sturdy. unfortunately the contrast isnt as good as i expected and dark scenes look kinda gray.
  • Gigabyte M28U 28 Inch 4K 144Hz - it has the hdmi 2.1 ports you need for ps5. i had some issues with the built-in speakers being totally useless tho which was disappointing. the LG felt safer for me even if its only 1440p. i just wanted something that wouldnt die on me right away. the Gigabyte is okay if you really need that 4k clarity for your ps5.

Catching up on this thread. In my experience, these flickering issues usually come down to either a bunk cable or just poor heat management in the display housing. Before I dive into what you should get tho, do you have a preference for the panel tech? Like, are you looking for deep blacks for horror games or just pure speed for shooters? This whole situation honestly reminds me of when my brother tried to build a custom battlestation in his closet.

  • He bought a massive screen that didnt even fit through the door
  • Ended up having to take the door off the hinges
  • The heat in that tiny space was so bad his Sony PlayStation 5 kept shutting down It was a total ordeal. He basically spent the whole weekend just fighting with cables and furniture... total disaster. Anyway, let me know about the panel type and I can help you narrow it down.
