I need to pull the trigger on a new monitor like literally today if I want it here before the local qualifiers next weekend. My current setup is a hand-me-down 60hz office screen and honestly its making me lose my mind. I keep getting wide swung by people I cant even see until I'm already dead and my friends are roasting me for being hardstuck Ascendant 3 but i swear its the ghosting. It feels like im playing underwater half the time and the input lag is definitely holding back my Jett dashes.
I have about $550 to spend maybe a tiny bit more if it's really worth it but my desk space is super cramped because I'm in a tiny studio apartment so anything over 24 or 25 inches is probably gonna be too big for my setup. I need something that fits on a shallow desk without the stand taking up my entire mousepad area because I play on a pretty low sens.
I have been looking at two main ones and I'm totally torn. First is the Zowie XL2546K. Everyone says the DyAc+ is the gold standard for competitive shooters like Val and CS but then I see people saying the TN panel colors are absolutely depressing to look at. Like I want to win but I also dont want the game to look like it's from 2005 when I'm just hanging out. The other one is the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN. That one is 360hz which sounds insane and its an IPS panel so the colors would be way better for when I'm watching YouTube but is the motion clarity actually as good as the Zowie? I've heard some people say 360hz on IPS still feels blurrier than 240hz on a Zowie because of how the pixels transition.
I really need to get this ordered by tonight so it gets here in time for me to get used to it before the tournament starts on Saturday. Does the DyAc actually make that big of a difference for holding angles and tracking movement or should I just go for the higher raw refresh rate on the ASUS? Which one is actually going to give me the edge in a high-stakes match?
Adding my two cents since I spent way too much time researching this for my own tiny desk. If space is tight and you want something reliable, its worth looking at the Alienware AW2523HF 24.5 inch 360Hz Gaming Monitor. The hexagonal base is way smaller than the ASUS stand so it wont eat your mouse space. Comparing the ones you listed:
In my experience, I went through this exact struggle last year when I was trying to climb.
