tbh it really depends on what else ur running in that rig. What CPU are you pairing it with? If ur on a budget, you don't necessarily need to drop a ton of cash on a top-tier unit, but you definitely don't want a cheapo fire hazard either. Basically, are you looking to keep the cost down or are you okay spending a bit more for peace of mind? Safety and reliability are huge for me, so I’d usually look for something solid like the MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 or even a Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 if you can find a good deal on them. They're usually pretty cost-effective without being sketchy. I just need to know ur total power draw before saying for sure if 750W is the best value or if you can get away with a cheaper 650W unit without risking anything.

In my experience building rigs over the years, I've found that the 5070 really benefits from a unit with solid transient response. I've tried many different brands and these are my personal favs for that card:

  • Seasonic Focus GX-750 750W 80+ Gold: This is basically the gold standard for reliability imo. I've used Seasonic for ages and their 10-year warranty is legit. Super quiet too.
  • Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 750W 80+ Gold: Awesome because it's natively ATX 3.0. Since the 5070 uses those new power connectors, you wont need any messy adapters. Makes the build look much cleaner.
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G6 80+ Gold: Really solid and actually a bit smaller than some others. Great if you're trying to shove everything into a mid-tower without losing your mind over cable space. Dont skimp on the psu... it's the heart of the rig. If you need any help with the install later just let me know!

For a GeForce RTX 5070, a 750W PSU is generally recommended, especially if you plan on overclocking. A 650W might suffice for standard gaming, but a 750W provides more headroom for other components and future upgrades. Consider a high-quality, 80+ Gold rated unit.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have gotta say I am pretty disappointed with how some of these newer ATX 3.0 units have been performing under heavy load lately... the voltage regulation on some supposedly premium models just is not as tight as I expected for the price. Honestly, for an RTX 5070 build, you really need to look closer at the actual internal components like the capacitor quality and how they handle those nasty transient spikes that can trip OCP. It is frustrating when the marketing says one thing but the actual oscilloscope data shows something else entirely. Before you commit to a specific unit though, what kind of case clearance are you working with? Some of the higher-end platforms are surprisingly long and can be a total nightmare for cable management in smaller mid-towers if you are not careful. Also, are you prioritizing absolute silence for your setup or are you just looking for the best price-to-performance ratio you can find right now?

Get the CORSAIR RM750e (2025).

tbh i have this exact same issue and it is super annoying... i have been checking the cybenetics database and the cultists network psu tier list every day for like three weeks now trying to find something with solid ripple suppression and transient response data that matches the 5070 specs but i still cant find a clear answer. its honestly so frustrating because i want absolute reliability for my build but without the verified power excursion peaks for these new cards everything feels like a gamble right now... i am just stuck waiting and it sucks.
