Hey everyone! I finally managed to get my hands on a PS5 Pro, and I really want to take full advantage of that extra power, especially when it comes to immersion. I've been playing some Horizon Forbidden West and the new Silent Hill 2 remake, but I feel like I'm missing out on the full '3D Audio' experience using my old budget pair of headphones from the PS4 era.
I'm specifically looking for a headset that can really make the most of Sony’s Tempest 3D AudioTech. I’ve heard great things about the Pulse Elite because of those planar magnetic drivers, but I’m also curious if high-end third-party options like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro or the Audeze Maxwell provide a better soundstage and more depth for atmospheric games. Comfort is a huge factor for me since I tend to go on 4-5 hour gaming sessions during the weekends, and I'd love something with a solid mic for the occasional party chat. My budget is around $250, though I could stretch it a bit if the quality jump is truly night and day.
What are you guys using with your Pro setups right now to get the best audio experience? Does anyone have a specific recommendation for a headset that really nails that directional audio and deep immersion?
In my experience, <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+Nova+7P+Wireless&linkCode=osi&t=t=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P Wireless is a safer bet for comfort. Or try Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023 Edition) for that mic quality. Just dont crank the volume too high!
Oh man, congrats on getting the Pro! For your situation, I would suggest comparing the Sony Pulse Elite Wireless Headset against the Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headset. I've spent a lot of time with both and honestly, it's a trade-off. The Pulse Elite is killer value at $150 and fits the Tempest 3D stuff perfectly... plus those planar drivers are seriously CRISP. But the build quality feels kinda cheap and plasticky, you know? If you can stretch to $300, the Audeze Maxwell is highkey in another league for immersion. The depth in *Silent Hill 2* is actually terrifying. Just be careful tho—they’re heavy, so for those 5-hour sessions, ur neck might feel it. If comfort is the absolute priority, the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+Nova+Pro+Wireless&linkCode=osi&t=t=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the winner, but you lose some audio detail. I’d go Maxwell for the raw sound quality. gl! 👍
> I've spent a lot of time with both and honestly, it's a trade-off. +1 to what was said earlier! I actually tried using high-end studio headphones with a fancy DAC on my Pro and it was a mess lol. **Warning:** just cuz a headset is expensive doesnt mean it plays nice with Tempest. If ur gear isnt UAC1 compatible, you basically lose those spatial cues. I found out that sticking to those specific sets mentioned above is wayyy better for 3D immersion cuz they handle the tech properly.
Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
