Just got a PS5 Pro and trying to clean up my desk setup here in Chicago. Budget is about 30 bucks. I want a dock that can handle both my older standard PS5 controller and the new Pro one.

I saw the official Sony charging station is the go-to, but then I read some Reddit threads saying it's really finicky to align the controllers. So I was thinking maybe a third-party one like NexiGo would be better, but my logic was that those cheap Amazon brands might fry the battery over time. Anyone have a solid recommendation that actually fits both easily?

TL;DR: Skip the official dock. I found the Sony one super annoying to align, total letdown tbh. I tried the NexiGo D90 PS5 Charging Station with LED and it actually works great for way less money. It fits the standard and Edge controllers just fine without the struggle. Dont worry about the battery stuff, mine has been solid for a year now and it saves a ton of cash.

Regarding what #1 said, my experience led to these:

  • HyperX ChargePlay Duo for PS5: stable, but bulky.
  • OIVO PS5 Charging Station: cheap, but bright LEDs. Ask if you need help!

Honestly I am in the exact same boat right now lol. I just picked up the Pro and my desk in the home office looks like a literal spider web of USB cables. It is driving me crazy but I am so paranoid about picking the wrong dock because I have seen so many horror stories about ports getting fried or batteries degrading way too fast. I have been looking for weeks and still havent clicked buy on anything yet because everything seems just a little bit sketchy or too expensive for what it is. I would definitely say you gotta be careful with the weight of these things tho. I have tried a couple of cheap ones at friends houses and they are so light that you need two hands just to undock the controller without the whole station flying across the room. It basically defeats the purpose of having a convenient setup if you are fighting the hardware every time you want to play. Be careful with those super thin plastic ones that look like they might snap if you look at them wrong. Quick question for you tho... are you looking for something that plugs directly into a wall outlet, or are you hoping to power the whole thing through the PS5 usb ports? And do you care about how bright the charging lights are? Some of these docks have LEDs that stay on 24/7 and they can be super annoying if the console is in your bedroom or something.

Honestly, I totally get the hesitation with battery health. I spent forever looking into this because I didnt want to risk my controllers either. I ended up grabbing the PowerA Twin Charging Station for PlayStation 5 because it feels pretty sturdy and it uses the bottom pins instead of forcing a USB-C port, which seems way safer for the long term. It handles both my controllers without any real wobble. It is pretty simple and doesnt have those crazy bright lights that some other docks have. Just make sure you plug it into a decent wall adapter if you really wanna be safe. Its been working fine for me for a while now and my charge times are super consistent.
