I'm going to get the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, so which RAM speed should I pair with it? Thanks.

Honestly, everyone jumps on the most expensive kits but in my experience with X3D chips, you really dont need to spend a premium. I've tried plenty of brands over the years and for a budget-friendly build that still hits that sweet spot, check out TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan DDR5 6000MHz CL30. It lacks flashy LEDs but performs basically the same as the high-end kits for way less money. Another solid pick is the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz CL30 32GB Kit. If you want to dive into the technical side of why expensive RAM isnt always worth it for these CPUs, definitely look up the memory scaling guides on Hardware Unboxed or basically anything from Buildzoid at Actually Hardcore Overclocking. They've shown how that V-Cache masks most latency issues anyway... better to save your cash for the GPU tbh.

Any updates on this?

Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.

DDR5 6000 CL30 or CL28 is the sweet spot.

Try G.Skill CL26 DDR5 Memory.

@sink_33 DDR5 6000 CL30 and CL26 has no differences on X3D processors.

I've been running G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB DDR5-6400 CL32 with my 9950X3D since launch and it's been rock solid. The sweet spot for this CPU seems to be DDR5-6000 to 6400 with tight timings. Just make sure your motherboard supports XMP/EXPO profiles if you don't want to manually tune.

For a high‐end Ryzen 9 9950X3D build, most experts agree that you should stick with a fast DDR5 kit in the 6000–6400 MT/s range with low CAS latency—and use just two DIMMs to keep the memory controller happy (i.e. a 1:1 UCLK:MCLK ratio).
