Building a new PC with 7800X3D. Looking for RAM recommendations! What speed and timings should I aim for, budget around $200?

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.

Re: "Man I wish I found this thread sooner...." - it really does save a lot of trouble to pick the right parts from day one. Over the years, I've found that prioritizing stability over raw speed is always the better move for a daily driver. For the 7800X3D, the sweet spot is definitely 6000MHz at CL30, but you want to make sure the kit is specifically validated for AMD EXPO. In my experience, the G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 is probably the safest bet right now. It is low profile, so it won't interfere with your cooler, and it has been rock solid in the builds I've seen lately. Another reliable choice is the Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB DDR5-6000. Crucial is usually my go-to when I don't want to spend hours testing for memory errors. Both of these are well under your $200 limit and should give you a very stable experience without needing much manual tweaking.

Honestly, everyone keeps raving about the usual suspects, but I had a rough go with some of those kits. My first build with a different brand just wouldnt post consistently and it was super annoying. I ended up switching to TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL30 and its been rock solid for me. Before you drop your cash, go check the QVL list on your motherboard manufacturers site specifically. Dont just trust the marketing. Another tip is using the Ryzen DRAM Calculator tool if you really want to get into the weeds, though you probably wont need to if you just stick to the EXPO profiles. Tbh save your money and dont overspend on fancy aesthetics if you can help it.

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.

Corsair Vengeance 6000MHz CL30 worked AMAZINGLY well for me! Tight timings are key with the 7800X3D. I've had zero issues. Love it!

7800X3D loves tight timings! Aim for CL30. Speed? 6000MHz is the sweet spot. Don't overspend; even budget kits often OC well. Check QVL lists, but Hynix-based kits generally play nice. Are you planning to tweak timings manually? That opens up options. I've seen good results with G.Skill, no complaints after 2 years.
