I'm freaking out a bit because my 7950X is hitting like 95C during renders and I feel like the stock stuff isn't cutting it. I looked up stuff and everyone says Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is the king but then I read on some subreddits that it actually dries out way faster if the CPU stays over 80C which mine definitely does. Then some people say just get MX-6 because it's safer but is it actually good enough for these high-end chips?

  • budget: under $25
  • longevity: need it to last at least 2-3 years without a repaste
  • application: needs to be easy to apply for someone with shaky hands lol
  • use case: 4K rendering in a hot room in Austin

Is there something better out there that wont degrade when things get spicy? I need to get this build stable by Monday...

To add to the point above: I'm super satisfied with Noctua NT-H2 3.5g Thermal Paste. It resists pump-out during heat cycles and wont dry out at 95C, making it perfect for your build.

Found this thread and wanted to warn you about pump-out. Honestly, since the 7950X naturally boosts to 95C, thinner pastes often fail within months. You might want to consider these thicker, more durable options for your Austin setup:

  • Thermalright TF8 2g Thermal Paste 13.8 W/mK is very viscous and wont dry out easily.
  • Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme 3.5g Thermal Paste is a professional standard for long-term stability.
  • Arctic MX-6 4g Thermal Compound handles high pressure and sustained rendering well.
