Im building a new rig with an i9-14900K and honestly cant decide between using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or going full liquid metal. Ive got a decent budget but Im worried about the conductivity risks since I move my pc a lot. Is it worth the risk for a few degrees or should I stick to paste?

Man, avoid liquid metal like the plague if youre transporting your rig! Youre just asking for a short circuit eventually. Honestly, those few degrees arent even noticeable during real gaming sessions anyway. If you want top-tier thermal performance without the insane risk or the premium price, you have to try ARCTIC MX-6 4g. It is honestly such a steal for the price and performs way better than it has any right to. Another fantastic option that keeps my 14900K totally under control is Prolimatech PK-3 Nano Aluminum 30g. You get a massive tube for the money so you wont have to stress about wasting any. Stay safe and stick to the paste!

Regarding what #1 said about sticking to paste, I totally agree. Given that you move your rig often, liquid metal is a disaster waiting to happen. If you want something easier to manage but still high-performing, try these:

  • Noctua NT-H2 3.5g for consistent, long-term stability.
  • Kingpin Cooling KPx 3g which is fantastic for high heat loads like that i9. Just keep it simple and safe, man. Not worth the stress.

Honestly, just stick with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g and save yourself the headache. With an i9-14900K, you already have enough thermal challenges without worrying about liquid metal leaking while you move the case around. It is not worth the risk of frying your board for maybe two degrees. Just use a high-end paste and focus on a solid cooler instead.
