Of course the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-9800X3D-16-Thread-Desktop-Processor/dp/B0DKFMSMYK?t=t=7649-20

7800X3D is still a great gaming CPU for rtx 5080.

stumbled on this while browsing... in my experience, if you are dropping that much cash on a gpu, you really want a cpu that focuses on stability and reliability. i've tried many different setups over the years and i usually lean towards intel for these kinds of high-end builds. they just feel more stable for daily use without weird platform issues. at that 500 dollar price point, you have plenty of great options that wont let you down.

  • go with the top-tier series from intel
  • stick with the most recent generation for better support
  • prioritize a brand that has solid driver history honestly just get any current high-end intel chip and you wont have issues. its the safest route for a 5080 build in my opinion. let me know if you need any more help picking out the rest of the components!

For the RTX 5080, I'd recommend the Intel Core i7-14700K. It's right in your $500 budget and has excellent gaming performance with 20 cores (8P+12E). Zero bottlenecking with the 5080, and the hybrid architecture really shines in modern games. Plus, you get decent power efficiency compared to previous gens.

For a ~$500 CPU to pair with an RTX 5080, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Ryzen 9 7900X3D offer excellent gaming performance. If you're on a tighter budget, consider a used 9800X3D. These CPUs provide ample power for the 5080 without bottlenecking.
