I'm planning to build a new PC around the upcoming RTX 5090 and need advice on the best CPU to pair with it. Will the AMD Ryzen 7800X3D be sufficient, or should I consider the Ryzen 9 7900X3D for optimal performance? Any recommendations?

Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, if you want the best for an RTX 5090, stop looking at the 7000 series and just grab the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
- The 9800X3D is the clear winner for gaming efficiency, keeps thermals way more manageable than the 7950X3D and its weird core parking issues.
- If you really need extra productivity cores, the Intel Core i9-14900K is an option, but the power draw is honestly pretty ridiculous under load. In my experience, you should prioritize cache over raw frequency every single time. Anyway, I spent all morning trying to fix my vintage mechanical keyboard because a switch was chattering, and I ended up taking the whole thing apart just to clean the PCB. It feels great to type on now, but yeah.
