Are contact frames worth buying for the latest Intel and AMD processors?

im finally pulling the trigger on a massive 14th gen build next weekend and im so stoked to finally have a pc that can actually run stuff at 4k! i was browsing some vids and saw everyone talking about these contact frames. i read on some forums that the intel brackets bend the cpu over time and cause heat issues but then i saw a reddit thread saying it barely makes a 2 degree difference for regular gaming. im a bit torn because $15 isnt much but i dont want to risk my warranty on a brand new i9 if its just hype... do you guys think these frames are actually worth the hassle for a normal user or is it just for extreme overclockers?

> do you guys think these frames are actually worth the hassle In my experience, buying the Thermalright LGA1700-BCF V2 is the way to go. Its cheap insurance for an i9 and keeps temps stable long-term.

Ive tried many builds over the years and the thermal benefits are real, but you have to be cautious about that warranty. In my experience, the biggest risk is over-tightening which can mess with your memory channels.

  • Use the Thermalright LGA1700-BCF V2 frame.
  • Tighten screws in a cross pattern.
  • Stop once you feel resistance. Its a solid safety measure for an i9 if youre comfortable with the install.

To add to the point above:

  • It is essentially cheap insurance. If you are dropping $500 plus on an i9, $15 to prevent the IHS from bowing over time is a logical investment.
  • Without it, even the most expensive liquid cooler wont perform at 100 percent because the contact surface just isnt flush. Basically dont overthink the cost. Its worth it for the thermal consistency alone.
