Ive been a MagSafe user since the 12 series but my speeds are tanking. Just got a 15 Pro for my Chicago trip and my old puck is barely moving the needle. Its super frustrating. Between Qi2 and official Apple tech, which MagSafe chargers actually provide the fastest charging right now?
> Between Qi2 and official Apple tech, which MagSafe chargers actually provide the fastest charging right now? Honestly, Qi2 is the way to go if you want 15W speeds without the crazy price tag. Ive been using the Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad Qi2 Certified 15W and its been great. Super satisfied with how fast it juices up my 15 Pro compared to old stuff. Works just as well as official tech for way less money imo.
To add to the point above: honestly i still stick with the Apple MagSafe Charger 15W A2140. Works well and i feel way safer using official gear for battery longevity, no complaints.
@Reply #1 - good point! Qi2 is definitely the game changer for keeping costs down while hitting that 15W peak. In my experience though, the biggest bottleneck people miss isn't just the puck, it's the heat. If your iPhone gets too warm, the charging speed just falls off a cliff. I've tried many setups over the years and honestly, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Dock with MagSafe 15W is the most consistent for me because it handles thermals way better than the cheap generic stuff. Also, check your wall plug. If you're still using an old 5W or 10W brick, even the best MagSafe puck wont help much. You really need at least a Anker 711 Charger Nano II 30W to make sure the charger actually gets enough juice to push the full 15W. Chicago can get hot too, so keep it out of direct sunlight while charging or itll crawl... basically heat is the enemy here.
Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, after dealing with various brands over the years, I have found that reliability almost always comes down to the power brick you are plugging that puck into, not just the magnetic side. Everyone talks about the puck, but if you are using an old, tired wall adapter, you are never gonna hit those peak speeds anyway. In my experience, you should pair whatever charger you choose with a solid GaN adapter. I have been using the Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W and it keeps everything way cooler than those generic cubes. Another tip: if you really want to keep the speeds up, just take the phone case off while charging. The heat dissipation on the 15 Pro is decent but any case creates a thermal wall that throttles the juice instantly. Keep it simple and keep it cool.
