Finally got my Fanatec rig set up and I'm so pumped to upgrade from this crappy 24 inch monitor. People say the Odyssey G9 is king but then I read the curve messes with FOV lines and now I'm just confused. Got about $800 to spend. What's the best ultrawide for sim racing?

> People say the Odyssey G9 is king but then I read the curve messes with FOV lines and now I'm just confused. Saw this while scrolling today and had to jump in. Honestly, the hype around the G9 is kinda exhausting because I had a total nightmare with mine. Unfortunately, the quality control is basically a coin toss, and that aggressive 1000R curve... it looks cool but it definitely distorts lines if you dont sit exactly in the sweet spot. It just wasnt as good as I expected for my iRacing setup and I found it super distracting. Since you have about $800, you have some solid options that are less of a headache. I ended up ditching the super-ultrawide for the LG 34GP83A-B 34 Inch 21:9 UltraGear QHD and its been way more consistent. The colors pop and the motion handling is buttery. If you want something even better for night racing, keep an eye on sales for the Alienware AW3423DWF 34-inch QD-OLED. The blacks are perfect which is huge for immersion, tho it might push your budget a tiny bit depending on the day. You should definitely check out the FOV Calculator tool on the Modern Sim Racing site to see how different sizes fit your rig space. Also, check RTINGS for their response time tables. Ghosting is the absolute worst when youre trying to hit your marks at high speed. It is a bummer the G9 didnt work out for me but you can definitely get a killer screen for $800 that wont mess with your head. Let me know if you need help with the mount setup too.

To add to the point above: I would suggest being careful with panel lottery. I saved significantly using the Gigabyte G34WQC 34 inch 144Hz but you should definitely check for backlight bleed tho.
