What is the best 4K gaming monitor for PS5 that actually handles HDR properly and doesnt cost as much as a used car? Ive been building PCs for a decade and usually know my way around hardware but this console transition is driving me crazy. I picked up a PS5 last week here in the city because I finally found one in stock but my current display setup is a complete mess. I tried using my old 1440p panel but the scaling looks soft and when I tried a mid-range 4K monitor the motion blur was honestly nauseating.
I need something that actually supports the full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth so I can get 120Hz at 4K without jumping through hoops. My budget is around $700 but I could go up to $900 if it means I wont have to replace it in two years. I mostly play stuff like God of War and Elden Ring but I hop on Warzone too so the response time needs to be snappy. I looked at the Sony Inzone M9 but heard the local dimming is buggy and the Odyssey G7 seems to have QC issues every other week.
Im just tired of returning stuff to the store and I just want to play my games in the limited free time I have. Is there a gold standard right now or am I just chasing a ghost...
Saw this earlier and unfortunately HDR at this budget is kinda a letdown. Most monitors just dont have the dimming zones to make it pop.
Honestly, over the years I've found that sticking to the reliable stuff saves so much headache. In my experience, the Gigabyte M32U 32-inch 4K 144Hz is the most stable pick for PS5 right now. It handles HDMI 2.1 and VRR without those annoying flickers or bugs you get on the G7. Its a solid workhorse that wont break the bank or require a return trip to the store... worth checking out for sure.
