^ This. Also, if youre thinking about long-term ownership, look at the VRM specs so the board doesnt struggle with power delivery years down the line.
- MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE is top tier. It has 24+2+1 power phases which is basically overkill, but it keeps things cool.
- ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi is a great alternative if you need 10G LAN and USB4 for high-speed storage.
- Gigabyte X870 Aorus Master is a very stable choice with good PCIe 5.0 implementation. I was actually looking at these earlier while trying to fix my cable routing. My desk is such a mess right now that I accidentally unplugged my second monitor and spent ten minutes wondering why it wouldnt turn on. I really need to get some velcro ties this weekend... anyway, those boards are solid tho.

All X670 and B650 motherboards will support Ryzen 9 9950X.

Skip the RGB tax. The ASRock X870 Steel Legend offers PCIe 5.0 x16 + dual Gen5 M.2, 14+2+1 power stages, and a clean aesthetic. No frills like 10G LAN, but it’s $100+ cheaper than ‘premium’ boards. AM5 is a long-term platform, so invest in a solid baseline. Just make sure to update the BIOS before installing the 9950X—ASRock’s Flashback button makes this easy.
