I’m setting up a dual-PC streaming rig and need a monitor that works well for both gaming and monitoring my stream. I need at least 1440p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Would a curved monitor help with multitasking? Also, any recommendations for a secondary monitor for chat and OBS? Budget for the primary monitor is around $800—open to suggestions.

To add to the point above: curvature on a standard 27-inch screen is mostly marketing fluff in my experience. If you really want multitasking help, you would be looking at a 21:9 ultrawide, but that gets tricky with streaming since you usually want to broadcast in 16:9 anyway. Ive tried many setups and honestly, spending your whole $800 on one monitor is overkill when you need two. I suggest grabbing the LG 27GP850-B 27 inch Ultragear QHD Nano IPS as your main. Its a solid 1440p performer with a 165Hz refresh rate that handles motion way better than most in its class. Use the leftover cash for a secondary like the ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q1A 23.8 inch. You can flip that one vertically... it makes reading twitch chat or discord way easier during a stream. Tbh, having a high-end main and a budget secondary is the smartest move for your wallet and gives you the exact same performance where it actually matters.

Honestly, for an $800 budget, you can get a realy solid setup without blowing it all on one screen. I think the biggest thing people forget in dual-PC builds is the KVM functionality. Not sure if its standard on all the new high-refresh models yet, but having one built-in lets you swap your mouse and keyboard between the two rigs seamlessly. It basically saves so much desk space and cable gore. As for the curvature, IIRC it doesn't do much for productivity on a standard 16:9 ratio, but it definately helps with eye strain if you go ultrawide. If your doing a lot of multitasking, 1440p/144Hz is the sweet spot. You can find top-tier IPS panels with low GtG latency for $400-$500 now, which leaves you plenty for a secondary monitor. For the chat/OBS screen, dont overspend—a basic 1080p panel is fine since it's just static text. Just make sure the refresh rates dont conflict; sometimes Windows gets wierd when you mix a 144Hz and a 60Hz screen on the same GPU, though with two PCs that shouldnt be an issue.

For your primary monitor within an $800 budget, I recommend the ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV. It’s a 27-inch 4K monitor, and while it exceeds the 1440p specification, it offers excellent color accuracy and a bunch of productivity features that might be beneficial for both gaming and streaming. Although it's primarily geared towards professional use, its high resolution and quality display will definitely enhance your gaming and streaming setup. For your secondary monitor, where you might monitor chat and OBS, you don't necessarily need something as high-end. Look for something that matches the height and resolution of your primary monitor for a seamless experience. A basic 1440p monitor would suffice here, and you could consider something more budget-friendly, possibly even dipping below the $300 mark. Look for options that offer good viewing angles and VESA mount compatibility, which can be very helpful if you decide to use a monitor arm for better positioning. Lastly, considering your setup involves multitasking and possibly long hours, ensure your chosen monitors have good ergonomic features like adjustable stands or eye care technology to reduce blue light exposure. This will help maintain comfort during your streaming sessions. Feel free to dive deeper into user reviews and additional specs to ensure the monitors fit perfectly within your streaming and gaming needs!
