Best budget gaming monitor for PS5 under $300?

So I finally snagged a PS5 after saving up for months but I'm currently hooking it up to this ancient 24 inch TV I found in the garage and it looks so bad. I need to upgrade like right now before the new DLC drops next week. My budget is strictly under 300 bucks since I'm a broke college student in NYC and space is super tight on my desk.

I'm stuck between the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ and the Gigabyte M27Q. The Gigabyte has that KVM switch which sounds cool for my school laptop but I heard the subpixel layout makes text look blurry? But the ASUS seems kinda old now. Which one handles the PS5 120Hz better?

Honestly, grab the Gigabyte M27Q 27 inch 1440p 170Hz IPS. In my experience, that KVM switch is a total game changer for tiny NYC dorm desks where you gotta swap between your laptop and console. Ive tried many budget displays, and the subpixel thing is way overblown nowadays. It hits 120Hz on PS5 perfectly, whereas the ASUS is kinda showing its age with slower response times.

^ This. Also, honestly gotta say I was pretty disappointed with how that older TUF handles PS5. A lot of people forget that the console is super picky about HDMI versions and VRR ranges. If you go with the ASUS, you are gonna run into issues because the HDMI bandwidth is just lacking for modern stuff. I have seen way better performance from the Dell G2724D 27 Inch QHD Fast IPS 165Hz which is usually under 300 bucks now.

The Dell handles VRR over HDMI natively, while the older ASUS often requires a lot of menu fiddling or just wont work right at 120Hz.

Contrast on the Gigabyte was not as good as expected in my testing, blacks look kinda grey which is annoying for horror games.

The subpixel thing on the M27Q is real if you are sensitive to it, making schoolwork a total pain. I had issues with flickering on a few of these budget IPS panels when pushing high refresh rates. It sucks when you just want things to work out of the box and they dont...
