With rumors circulating about the potential release of the Sony PS5 Pro, I'm curious about your thoughts on its pricing. Considering the current PS5 retails for around $499, how much do you think Sony will charge for the enhanced Pro version?
Given the expected hardware upgrades, such as improved graphics processing and potentially larger storage capacity, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS5 Pro comes with a premium price tag. However, Sony might also want to remain competitive with Microsoft's pricing strategy for the Xbox Series X.
What are your predictions for the PS5 Pro's price point, and how much would you be willing to pay for the upgraded console?
Honestly, I am betting Sony goes for $699 and it is gonna be a tough pill to swallow. I have had so many issues with my launch unit lately, especially with the fans getting way louder than they should be after just a year of use. It is pretty disappointing that we are talking about a premium price when the base build quality hasn't felt that pro to begin with. If the price hits that high, I am just sticking to my plan of making my current setup more reliable instead of buying a whole new box.
> Honestly, I am betting Sony goes for $699 and it is gonna be a tough pill to swallow. Like someone mentioned, that 700 dollar price point is definitely gonna be a hard sell for most people. In my experience, these mid-gen refreshes usually dont offer enough of a leap to justify such a massive premium. I've tried many different consoles over the years and honestly, you're usually better off just upgrading your current PS5 storage with something like the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe SSD rather than dropping seven bills on a new machine. I have to disagree with the idea that we just have to accept these climbing prices tho. Sony needs to stay competitive with the Xbox Series X 1TB Console which is regularly discounted now. If they push it to $699, they're basically asking for people to just build a mid-range PC instead. If you're looking for a better experience right now, spending that cash on a Victrix Pro BFG Wireless Controller for PS5 would probably make a bigger difference in your daily gaming than a few extra frames for that price. Just my two cents... it's a lot of money for a small bump.
Saw this earlier but just getting back to it. @Reply #2 - good point, but unfortunately I think the 499 prediction is basically impossible now. Silicon costs on the TSMC 4nm process are staying high and Sony hasnt been able to do a traditional price cut on the base model for a reason. If we get the 33 TFLOPS and PSSR support people are talking about, that hardware is gonna push the price way up. Honestly, if they try to bundle it with something like a Sony DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, we could even see it hit 699. For most people, it is just not as good a deal as expected compared to just sticking with the standard Sony PlayStation 5 Slim and upgrading the storage with a Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe SSD. The performance jump might look good on paper, but the cost per frame is gonna be rough.
I think the launch price for PS5 Pro will be $599.

PS5 launch price is $499. So I think PS5 Pro will have same price.
