Hi everyone,

I'm having some issues with my Asus monitor and I think I need to perform a hard reset on it. However, I'm not quite sure about the correct steps to do this safely.

Can someone please provide a step-by-step guide on how to properly hard reset an Asus monitor? I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly without causing any damage to the monitor.

Also, are there any precautions I should take before attempting the reset? I'd appreciate any advice or tips from those who have experience with this process.

Thank you in advance for your help!

If the button combo doesnt work for you, the most reliable way is usually through the OSD menu itself. Ive handled dozens of these for office setups and sometimes the hardware buttons get stuck or dont register the long press correctly.

  • Access the OSD: Press the Menu button or joystick on the back.
  • System Setup: Navigate down to System Setup or MyFavorite depending on your specific model like the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ.
  • All Reset: Find the All Reset option and select Yes. This wipes every calibration and color profile back to factory defaults. For a true hardware-level discharge if the screen isnt even coming on:
  • Disconnect the power brick and the DisplayPort or HDMI cables entirely.
  • Hold the power button down for a full 60 seconds to drain the capacitors.
  • Let it sit for an hour before plugging anything back in. If you are still seeing flickering or artifacts on something like the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM, you might actually need a firmware update via the ASUS Support site rather than just a reset. Sometimes the internal controller gets bugged and a reset wont fix underlying code issues.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to perform a hard reset on your Asus monitor safely:

Precautions

  1. Make sure your monitor is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Wait for at least 60 seconds after unplugging to allow any residual power to dissipate.

Hard Reset Steps

  1. Locate the monitor's built-in control buttons, usually on the underside edge or back of the monitor.
  2. Press and hold the first button on the left for 5-10 seconds. This is typically the "Menu" button.
  3. While still holding the first button, plug the power cord back into the outlet.
  4. Keep holding the button until you see the monitor's power LED blink or the ASUS logo appear.
  5. Release the button and wait for the monitor to power on and display the image.

Additional Tips

  • If the hard reset doesn't work the first time, repeat the process and ensure you're holding the correct button firmly.
  • After the reset, your monitor's settings may return to their factory defaults. Take time to readjust brightness, contrast, and other preferences.
  • If issues persist after the reset, consider checking your video cable connections or contacting Asus support for further assistance.

Remember, performing a hard reset will not cause damage to your monitor when done correctly. It's a troubleshooting step to resolve various display issues or quirky behavior.
