im looking for a stand for my trip to Italy next month and saw the roost but $90 seems crazy? my logic was maybe the nexstand is better but people say its way bulkier for a carry on. i need something super light for cafes that wont break my budget or my back honestly...

I went through this exact same headache last year. Honestly, I was so disappointed with the Roost V3 Laptop Stand after dropping nearly a hundred bucks on it. It's light but it felt kinda cheap for the cost. Then I tried the Nexstand K2 Portable Laptop Stand thinking it was a steal, but unfortunately it was just too bulky for my messenger bag. It's basically a thick tube that takes up way too much room. If you're hitting cafes in Italy, you're gonna want something that doesn't scream I have a mobile office anyway. I eventually settled on the MOFT Invisible Slim Laptop Stand for my travels. It's not as tall as I'd like which is a bit of a letdown for my neck long-term, but for a trip it's the best compromise on weight and price. Definitely don't overspend on the Roost if you're on a budget... you can use that extra cash for some good espresso instead. Let me know if you need more tips for the trip tho.

> im looking for a stand for my trip to Italy next month and saw the roost but $90 seems crazy? Italy sounds incredible, honestly so jealous. Been looking at travel gear specs lately and prices are getting wild... but before you grab a cheaper alternative, I'd suggest checking your specific hardware specs first. What is the exact weight and screen size of the laptop you're taking? If you are rocking something heavy like a Dell Precision 7680 or even a larger Apple MacBook Pro 16 inch M3, some budget stands might get real wobbly or even tip over if the center of gravity is off. Also, be careful and think about your peripheral setup... are you bringing a separate keyboard and mouse? I have seen people get stuck in cafes because they realize too late they cant actually type on the laptop while its elevated. Just wanna make sure you dont waste money on something that wont work for your specific setup.
