My laptop is literally burning my legs while I try to finish this project and I am so done. It sounds like a jet engine is gonna take off from my desk. I need something to fix this overheating mess asap before it just dies on me. What cooling pad or stand actually works?
Building on the earlier suggestion, you really need to prioritize airflow over just having a bunch of RGB lights. If your fans are screaming like that, your thermal paste might actually be drying out, so keep that in mind if a pad doesnt fix the issue. I would suggest checking out the Cooler Master NotePal X3 200mm fan because that massive 200mm fan moves a ton of air at much lower decibels than those smaller, whiny ones. Just be careful where you plug it in, try to use a powered hub if your ports are already maxed out. Honestly, if you want something more portable but still solid, grab the IETS GT500 5000RPM Cooling Pad. It uses a foam seal to force air directly into the intake vents, which is way more efficient than just blowing air at the bottom casing. Make sure to clean your vents with some compressed air first or you're basically just pushing dust into your motherboard.
^ This. Also, honestly, most of those generic cooling pads are just flashy garbage that dont move enough CFM to actually make a dent. I tried the Thermaltake Massive 20 RGB 200mm fan and it was kinda disappointing tbh; the build quality felt super flimsy for the price and the airflow just wasnt hitting the right spots on my chassis. Unfortunately, if your machine is screaming, it might be choking on dust. Quick tip: grab a can of compressed air and blow out those vents before buying anything else. If you still need a stand, go for the J5Create Aluminum Laptop Stand JTS117 because it elevates the machine enough to let the intake fans actually do their job without blocking the vents. Much better for your wallet and your thermals.
Oh man, I totally feel your pain! Having a laptop burn your legs is honestly the worst and it is super bad for the internals too. You definitely need to get that thing off your lap pronto. I swear by the Klim Ultimate RGB Laptop Cooling Pad because it is basically a lifesaver. The fans are massive and it actually moves enough air to keep my workstation chilly even when I am pushing it to the limit. It is super sturdy too, which is a huge plus for me since I dont want my expensive gear sliding around. If you want something more portable, I also keep a Roost Laptop Stand V3 in my bag for when Im on the go. Its not a cooling pad with fans, but just lifting the laptop off the desk surface makes a massive difference in airflow. Honestly, getting it propped up is half the battle! My temps dropped like 10 degrees just by switching to a stand alone. Just make sure you dont set it on your bed or blankets or anything, those vents need to breathe. Seriously, grab one of these and you will be amazed at how much quieter those fans get. Hope this saves your laptop from a total meltdown!
