I'm honestly so annoyed right now because every single vertical mount I look at seems to have some massive dealbreaker and my build is just sitting there half-finished. I really want to show off my new 4080 Super because the shroud is beautiful but I am terrified of the temps. I saw the Cooler Master Universal V3 and it looks okay because you can supposedly move it away from the glass but then I read a bunch of reviews saying the bracket is super unstable with heavier cards and sag is a nightmare. Then people keep bringing up the EZDIY-FAB multi-angle one but I've heard the PCIe 4.0 cables they include are hit or miss and sometimes just flat out dont work at full speed.
I need something that actually lets the card breathe because my O11 Dynamic isnt exactly huge when you start shoving a thick 3-slot card in there vertically. I spent way too much money on this build to have it thermal throttle just for aesthetics. My constraints are:
Has anyone actually tested these for thermal performance? Like is there one that stands out for keeping the fans from just recycling hot air? I dont want to buy something just for it to turn my PC into an oven...
Yo! Just saw this and I am super hyped for your build because the 4080 Super looks incredible! Like someone mentioned, that O11 case is a classic but it gets tight fast. Quick question tho—is it the original O11 Dynamic or the Evo version? It makes a huge difference for clearance and which brackets actually fit right. Quick technical tips for airflow:
> I saw the Cooler Master Universal V3 and it looks okay because you can supposedly move it away from the glass but then I read a bunch of reviews saying the bracket is super unstable with heavier cards and sag is a nightmare. Honestly, I think those reviews are way off or they just didnt tighten the screws enough lol. I have been using the Cooler Master Universal Vertical GPU Holder Kit V3 PCIe 4.0 for months with a huge triple-fan card and it is totally rock solid. No complaints here. The best thing about it is that sliding mechanism... you can basically shove the card way back toward the motherboard so it has tons of room to breathe. In my own O11 build, my temps stayed almost identical to horizontal mounting because of that gap. It is usually around $60 on Amazon so it fits your budget perfectly. I havent had any issues with the riser cable speed either. If you want something that actually works without the sag, this is the one imo. Just make sure you lock the sliding rails tight once you find the sweet spot.
