honestly im so done with these loading screens on my ps4 pro it is actually driving me insane at this point. i was trying to play ghost of tsushima and then hopped over to destiny 2 and i swear i spent more time looking at a black screen with a little loading icon than actually playing the game... its just so frustrating when you only have like an hour to play after work and half of it is just waiting around. but im actually super hyped because i finally got a little bit of extra cash like 130 bucks to spend on an upgrade and everyone says an external ssd is the way to go to fix this mess and make the ui stop lagging so hard. i dont want to open up the console and swap the internal drive because i am definitely gonna break something if i try that so it has to be an external usb one.
im looking for something that actually works and wont fail on me in a month because ive had bad luck with cheap drives before. i keep hearing about some drives getting way too hot and then slowing down which would basically defeat the whole point of me buying this thing. here is what im looking for:
i saw some samsung ones and some sandisk ones online but honestly i dont know which ones are actually worth the money for a ps4 specifically since i know the usb ports have speed limits anyway. does it even matter if i get a super fast one or is there a cap on what the ps4 can even handle? i just want my games to start fast so i can actually enjoy my nights off without staring at a wall while the progress bar slowly fills up. anyone got a specific model theyve been using for a while that doesnt overheat or disconnect? i really want to get this ordered by friday so i can play all weekend...
Over the years I've tested tons of drives, these are solid:
^ This. Also, the PS4 Pro is limited to USB 3.0 Gen 1, so youre capped at 5Gbps anyway. I've been really satisfied with these:
Agreed, those work great. Honestly, just search YouTube for PS4 Pro SSD load time comparisons to see if the cost is worth it. Theres a great video about it... dont overthink it.
