Im so confused. I want one headset for both my PS5 Pro and Xbox but everything in the store says it only works for one? My logic was wireless is wireless but I guess not. Its so frustrating. I have $200 and need it by Friday. Is there one that does both? Sorry if this is stupid...
It is honestly such a bummer that Microsoft and Sony cant just play nice with audio standards. I went through three different pairs last year trying to find one that actually worked on both without sounding like garbage. Unfortunately most of the universal stuff ends up having weird connectivity drops or the mic quality just tanks when you switch platforms... its not as good as expected most of the time. The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX Wireless Gaming Headset is probably your best bet to get by Friday. It has a specific toggle on the transmitter for Xbox or PS5. I had issues with the headpad peeling after only a few months tho, which was super disappointing for something in this price range. The sound is punchy, but the build quality feels a bit lacking. You could also look at the Astro A20 Wireless Gen 2 Gaming Headset for Xbox. It is way cheaper, which is nice for your $200 budget, but there is a catch. It only comes with one transmitter. To use it on both consoles, you usually have to buy a second USB stick for the PlayStation side. Its kinda a ripoff that they dont just include both in the box. Basically you want anything that explicitly says MAX or has that Xbox security chip. Just make sure the box says it works with Xbox first because that is the picky one... the PS5 Pro will usually take anything that works on PC. Just watch out for those cheap hinges on the Turtle Beach tho because they definitely snap if you arent careful.
Honestly, it's so annoying how Microsoft makes everything difficult with their proprietary wireless stuff. I was really disappointed when I first realized my old Sony headset wouldnt connect to my Series X at all... it was a total waste of money. You're definitely not stupid for being confused because the marketing is a complete mess right now. Basically, if you want one headset for both, you gotta buy the Xbox-specific version of certain brands. For your $200 budget, the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+Nova+7X+Wireless&linkCode=osi&t=t=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless is really the best bet. Just make sure you get the 7X version specifically. It comes with a USB-C dongle that has a little switch on it. You flip it to Xbox for that console and USB for the PS5 Pro. I had issues with other brands claiming they worked when they actually required a wired connection to the controller for one of the consoles, which is not as good as expected when you want true wireless. The 7X is actually wireless on both. Just dont accidentally buy the 7P version because that one wont work on your Xbox at all, which is honestly such a letdown. It's confusing for no reason but that one should solve it for you.
Just saw this and wanted to share my experience. I once bought a headset that claimed to be universal but it only worked on one console because I missed a tiny detail.
