I really need a solid recommendation for a budget wireless headset for my PS4 and PS4 Pro because I am honestly about to lose my mind with these wires.

My current set is some old Turtle Beach ones I got years ago and the cable is all frayed and every time I move my head even an inch there is this horrible crackling sound in my left ear and it's making me want to throw the whole console out the window. I tried taping it but that lasted like two days before it started acting up again and now it's just worse. Plus my dog keeps tripping over the cord when she walks past the coffee table and I am just done with it.

I'm looking to spend maybe $70 at most, maybe $80 if it's really worth it, but I'm on a tight budget right now since I just had to pay for a bunch of car repairs this month. I live in the US and usually just order stuff off Amazon but I could go to a store if there is a better deal. I mainly play at night when the house is quiet so I don't wake up my girlfriend and I mostly play stuff like God of War or sometimes jump into a bit of Apex with friends so I need a mic that doesn't sound like I am underwater.

I was looking at the official Sony Gold ones but I heard the hinges break really easily and I am kinda clumsy so that makes me nervous. Is there anything else out there that actually lasts? I don't need fancy 7.1 surround sound or anything crazy, just something that connects easily to the PS4 without a massive headache and doesn't die after two hours of use. It feels like everything wireless is either $200 or total junk and there has to be a middle ground somewhere right? Does anyone have something they have actually used for more than a month without it falling apart...

> budget right now Do you wear glasses? Im satisfied with Razer Barracuda X 2022 Wireless... it has better battery than Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset tho Sonys setup is slightly easier.

I've gone through a dozen headsets over the years trying to find that perfect balance between price and quality, and honestly, you're right to be wary of the Sony Golds. Those hinges are a nightmare if you're even slightly rough on your gear. For your budget, I've found two options that actually stand up to daily use without falling apart after a month. Based on my testing, these are the most reliable under $80:

  • <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+1+Wireless+for+PlayStation&linkCode=osi&t=t=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless for PlayStation
  • This is my top pick. It uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection via a USB-C dongle (it comes with an adapter for the PS4), so there's zero lag compared to Bluetooth. The mic is detachable and actually sounds pretty crisp for Apex.
  • HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless for PS5 and PS4
  • If you want something that feels a bit more rugged, this is it. It has a steel slider which makes it way more durable than the official Sony ones. The key with these budget wireless sets is the 2.4GHz connection. It connects instantly to the PS4 front USB port and doesn't drop out like some cheap Bluetooth pairs do. Battery life on the Arctis usually gets me through about 20 hours easily, which is plenty for late night sessions. Ngl, the comfort on the SteelSeries is also way better than those old Turtle Beach sets because they use an airweave fabric that doesn't get as hot. Just keep the dongle plugged in and you won't have to deal with any pairing headaches...

I have been through a few headsets that felt like they were made of eggshells, so I totally get the nerves. After a nasty car repair bill myself last year, I had to be really careful with my spending. I ended up getting a pair that didnt look like much but had great reviews for being tank-like. I have dropped them, sat on them once (oops), and they still work like day one. Im very satisfied with my current setup because it just works without any drama.

  • The physical build quality matters way more than the audio specs at this price point tbh. Look for thicker plastic.
  • Having a dedicated mute button that actually feels clicky is a life saver for late night games.
  • My battery life usually hits about 15 hours which is plenty for a long weekend session. Basically, I learned that you dont need to spend 200 bucks to get something that wont snap in half. It is a huge relief not having a cable across the floor for everyone to trip over anymore...
