It seems like the Nintendo Switch has really hit its stride now and has tons of great games. But with it already being on the market for over 5 years now, I can't help but wonder when we might see a next-gen "Switch 2" with some upgraded hardware.
Have there been any credible leaks, rumors or announcements regarding plans for a Switch successor? I feel like Nintendo has really nailed the hybrid console concept with the Switch, so I'd expect a Switch 2 would retain that while bumping up things like the screen, battery life, CPU/GPU performance, etc.
Maybe a Switch 2 with 4K output when docked? Or built-in Bluetooth audio support rather than needing weird adapters? I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on what their wishlist would be for a Switch 2 whenever it does come out.

Like someone mentioned, we are looking at an announcement within this fiscal year, but honestly, its disappointing how long they are stalling. The current rumors about the specs are not as good as expected, especially if they stick with an 8-inch LCD screen to save costs. My biggest concern is the reliability of the new rail system for controllers. If they dont use hall effect sensors, we are just going to deal with drift all over again. If your current Switch is feeling slow, unfortunately no software update will fix that hardware age. I tried upgrading to a Samsung EVO Plus 512GB microSDXC to help with load times, but the CPU is the real bottleneck now. If you need a reliable handheld that actually handles 1080p or 4K docked properly, you might want to look at the Lenovo Legion Go 8.8 Gaming Handheld instead of waiting for Nintendo to catch up. Their hardware just doesnt hold up compared to the PC-based handhelds lately.

I don't think so. Maybe announced at CES 2025 at the earliest.
