I've been eyeing the Switch OLED for a while and wondering if anyone has predictions for deals next month. Current price is still $349.99. Past years had modest discounts. Any retail insiders or experienced deal hunters have insights?

@Reply #6 - good point! Honestly, it is so annoying that Nintendo refuses to budge on the price of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model White. Ive been holding out for months too, and it feels like we are just being ignored while everyone else gets actual sales. I really wouldnt trust those weird third-party sellers on some sites just to save a few bucks, it is not worth the risk of getting a refurbished unit or worse.

  • Stick to reputable retailers only
  • Check for open-box items if you really need to save cash
  • Watch out for scams during the holiday rush It is just frustrating that we have to jump through these hoops for a console that has been out for years. If I were you, I would just wait until the very last minute to see if a store does a random clearance, but be careful with your money.

^ This. Also, checking the big box stores is the way to go, but honestly, Nintendo is super stingy with these deals. Its really disappointing how they rarely drop the actual MSRP. Unfortunately, we usually just see those bundles where they pack in a digital code for a game you probably already have, which isnt as good as expected for someone just wanting the hardware. If youre looking at sheer value, I keep looking at the Valve Steam Deck 256GB LCD because it goes on sale for way less than the Switch OLED and plays way more stuff. But if you gotta have those Nintendo titles, try looking at:

  • Target (they sometimes do gift cards with purchase)
  • Kohls (for the Kohls cash deals)
  • Walmart (usually has the best stock for holiday bundles) I had issues with the Joy-Cons drifting on my old one too, so maybe budget for an 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller while youre at it... just a thought since the stock controllers can be a letdown. Good luck with the hunt tho!

Building on the earlier suggestion, honestly, the most effective way to maximize your budget is looking at the total value of the hardware and accessories. Nintendo is incredibly rigid with that $349 MSRP for the Nintendo Switch OLED Model White, so direct discounts are pretty rare even during the holidays. If you are open to alternatives or want to improve the experience yourself, consider these options:

  • The ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme often sees deep discounts at Best Buy, providing way more performance for a similar price point if you are okay with Windows.
  • Grab a Skull & Co. NeoGrip for Switch OLED to significantly improve the handheld ergonomics, which is a common complaint with the stock design.
  • Invest in a SAMSUNG EVO Select 512GB microSDXC since the internal 64GB fills up almost instantly once you start downloading titles. Taking a DIY approach by buying a used unit and adding a high-quality grip or a custom shell usually yields a better setup than the official holiday bundles. Nintendo tends to bundle older games like Mario Kart, so if you already own those, the value just isnt there for an experienced user.

Just check stores like Amazon, Best Buy.
