I'm in the market for a new TV to pair with my PlayStation 5, and I was hoping to get some recommendations. I want to make sure I can fully enjoy the PS5's capabilities, especially the 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Features like HDMI 2.1 support, low input lag, and good HDR performance are important to me. Ideally, I'd like to stay within a reasonable budget, but I'm open to all suggestions. What models are you all using, and what would you recommend for the best gaming experience? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I get why everyone is obsessing over the newest OLED panels, but I have to offer a different take. I spent years burning through expensive screens only to realize that gaming habits matter way more than raw specs. If you play games with static HUDs or long health bars for hours on end, you really need to be careful with burn-in. I used to be an OLED loyalist until I saw faint ghosting on my setup after a year of heavy RPG sessions. Before you drop a fortune, consider these few things:

  • Check the actual peak brightness in gaming mode, as some TVs dim aggressively to protect the panel.
  • Look into the warranty coverage for screen degradation, because standard warranties often exclude burn-in.
  • Think about your room lighting; if you have a bright living room, those glossy screens can be a nightmare with glare. I ended up going a different route just to avoid the anxiety of staring at static elements. Just be smart about your usage patterns, because no tech is totally immune if you're not careful.

To add to the point above: it is totally worth prioritizing the long-term stuff! I am super enthusiastic about getting fresh tech but nothing beats a display that actually lasts. Reliability is king when it comes to gaming setups. I have been using my current screen for ages and the peace of mind you get from a panel that doesnt degrade after a few thousand hours is just amazing! Honestly, I always feel its way safer to go with something that has a proven history for build quality. Love that focus on longevity!

Here are some great TV options to pair with your PlayStation 5 to get the best gaming experience:

  1. LG C2 OLED:

    • 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1
    • Extremely low input lag (< 10ms)
    • Incredible HDR performance with perfect blacks
    • Available in sizes from 42" to 83"
    • More expensive than LED TVs, but offers the best picture quality
  2. Samsung QN90B QLED:

    • 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1
    • Low input lag (< 10ms)
    • Excellent HDR performance with high peak brightness
    • Available in sizes from 43" to 85"
    • More affordable than OLED TVs while still providing great picture quality
  3. Sony X95J:

    • 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1
    • Low input lag (< 15ms)
    • Great HDR performance with local dimming
    • Available in sizes from 50" to 85"
    • Good balance of price and performance
  4. TCL R648 Mini-LED:

    • 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1
    • Low input lag (< 15ms)
    • Very good HDR performance with Mini-LED backlighting
    • Available in 55", 65", and 75" sizes
    • Excellent value for money

When choosing a TV for your PS5, make sure it has the following key features:

  • 4K resolution
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • HDMI 2.1 ports (for 4K@120Hz gaming)
  • Low input lag (ideally < 15ms)
  • Good HDR performance (look for high peak brightness and wide color gamut)

Ultimately, the best TV for you will depend on your budget and personal preferences. OLED TVs like the LG C2 offer the best picture quality but are more expensive. QLED and Mini-LED TVs like the Samsung QN90B and TCL R648 provide excellent performance at a lower price point.

If you're on a budget, check out the TCL 6-Series. It offers fantastic value for money with QLED technology, 4K resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. While it doesn't have HDMI 2.1, it still provides a great gaming experience for most PS5 titles.
