So I have this weird situation where Im switching between an old iPad 6th gen for my drawings and then this cheap Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 I got for school notes and honestly carrying two pens is just a mess. Im a bio major so Im constantly sketching diagrams and taking quick notes during lectures starting in two weeks and I really need to stay under $60 because textbooks already destroyed my wallet lol.
I spent some time looking online and saw the Adonit Dash 4 pops up a lot as a universal pick but then I saw a bunch of reviews saying it has weird jitter on certain screens and then other people swear by those generic fine tip ones from Amazon but they dont have pressure sensitivity usually? Its super confusing because some say the disc tips are better for accuracy but they look so clunky and Im worried about scratching my screens if Im being honest. I just want something that feels like a real pen and doesnt have that annoying lag when I move across the screen. Does anyone actually use one stylus for multiple different brands of tablets or am I just chasing a dream here? Which universal styluses actually give a decent writing experience without making me want to throw my tablet at a wall...
I have been using the Adonit Dash 4 Universal Stylus Dual Mode for ages and it is seriously a lifesaver when youre bouncing between an iPad and a Galaxy Tab! It has this tiny light that changes color depending on which tablet youre using... green for the Samsung and blue for the iPad. Its so cool! I know people complain about jitter, but honestly, for biology diagrams and fast notes, it works like a charm. It feels way more like a real pen than those clunky disc ones. Another solid choice is the Meko Universal Stylus 2-in-1 Precision if you want something super cheap to keep as a backup in your bag. Textbooks are a total scam so staying under $60 is a mood lol. Just grab the Adonit and dont look back, its honestly the best experience for a multi-device setup!
> The lag and lack of palm rejection on those universal active pens made my biology diagrams look... Totally agree, the lack of palm rejection is the real killer for bio diagrams. If you want a cheaper alternative that works across both, the MoKo Universal Active Stylus 1.5mm Fine Tip is a solid middle ground. Quick tip tho: buy a cheap drawing glove. It fixes the palm rejection issue on any screen and makes these universal pens actually usable for long note sessions. It wont be perfect, but it works...
Just saw this thread and honestly, I have to be the party pooper here. I tried the one-pen-for-all setup last year with my iPad and a Lenovo tablet, and it was so disappointing. The lag and lack of palm rejection on those universal active pens made my biology diagrams look terrible. Before going further, which note-taking apps are you planning to use? Some apps have built-in digital palm rejection which might help. Unfortunately, because the Tab A7 doesnt support active pens, any universal stylus is just going to mimic a finger and feel laggy. Your best bet is splitting your budget:
