Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am totally lost. I need a stand for my iPad because I'm starting an online sketching class on Monday and keep tipping mine over. I'm in Chicago and only have about 30 bucks to spend. Do I go for metal or plastic for better stability?

Regarding what #2 said about honestly metal being the only way to go, I get it, but weight distribution is just as vital as material. If you need something sturdy for sketching, look at these:

  • OMOTON Tablet Stand Aluminum Alloy
  • AmazonBasics Aluminum Portable Foldable Holder Tips for stability:
  • Keep your center of gravity low.
  • Dont extend the arm fully if you can avoid it.
  • Check out the iPad sketching subreddit for tripod mount recommendations if these still tip.

Honestly metal is the only way to go for sketching! I love my UGREEN Tablet Stand Aluminum Adjustable because it stays put while I draw. Total game changer for real.

TL;DR: Go metal. Plastic stands just dont hold up over time. In my experience, I've had way too many cheap ones crack while drawing. I used to use the Lamicall Tablet Stand Adjustable Holder for years and it is rock solid for sketching. It is well under your budget and super stable so it wont tip over while you're working. Definitely go metal, trust me on that.
