Looking for a new Android tablet, budget is under $300. What's the absolute best value for the money right now? Need it mainly for streaming video and some light gaming.
Honestly, at the sub 300 price point, you really have to watch out for the specs that manufacturers try to hide. Ive tested a few budget slabs lately and the biggest trap is definitely the RAM. Do not buy anything with less than 4GB of RAM nowadays... even for just streaming, itll stutter like crazy once you have a few apps open. Also, for video, make sure you check if it has Widevine L1 certification. I made that mistake once with a cheap import and was stuck watching streaming services in 480p despite the screen being high res. Its a total dealbreaker for a media tablet. Another thing to avoid is eMMC storage. If you can find a tablet with UFS storage, its gonna feel way snappier when loading games. Basically, avoid those random off-brand tablets with sketchy names you see on discount sites, even if the price looks tempting. They usually skip out on driver updates and the screens are usually washed out garbage tbh.
