I just got the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and I'm excited to explore the world of mobile VR. However, I'm not sure which VR headset would be the best match for this powerful phone.
I've heard good things about the Oculus Quest 2, but I don't know if it's fully compatible with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. I'm looking for a headset that can take full advantage of the phone's advanced specs like the 8K 120Hz display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Comfort and ergonomics are also important to me. I wear glasses, so the headset needs to accommodate those. Adjustable IPD and a wide field of view would be ideal. My budget is around $500.
I'd appreciate any recommendations from people who have tried VR on the S24 Ultra or a similar flagship Samsung phone. What has your experience been like? Are there any headsets I should avoid?
Bonus points if the headset also allows me to connect to my gaming PC to play higher-end VR titles in addition to mobile VR content.
Thanks in advance for your insights!

The best choice is to get a standard alone VR headset, such as meta Quest series.
Seconded!
As standalone VR headsets now provide immersive, quality experiences at affordable prices, mobile VR has lost its luster. With better displays, tracking, content libraries, and critically, lower costs, dedicated headsets are dominating, making basic smartphone VR obsolete. Mobile VR’s future looks dim as standalone options only improve.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I would honestly be careful about plugging your phone into those cheap plastic headsets. My S24 Ultra gets pretty warm even when just browsing, and I once had a different phone overheat so badly in a viewer that the screen protector actually bubbled up. It was a mess, and I definitely learned my lesson about relying on internal thermal management for intensive gaming sessions. Make sure to check your battery health regularly if you do decide to go down that route. Honestly, I spent so much time worrying about the device overheating that I eventually just moved my gaming over to a dedicated setup to save my phone for daily tasks. It just wasn't worth the risk of damaging the display over a short gaming session. Anyway, I just ended up clearing out my junk drawer the other day and found a bunch of old cables I dont even use anymore, but yeah.
Seconded!
