Hey everyone! I just treated myself to a new laptop for my remote job, and I want to make sure I have everything I need to stay productive. It is a great machine, but it lacks standard ports and I am worried about scratching the finish when I travel.

I am mainly looking for things that help with durability and utility. Specifically, I need ideas for:

  • A high-quality carrying case or sleeve
  • A multi-port adapter for my dual monitors
  • A portable stand to help with neck strain

I want to get the setup right the first time without buying unnecessary clutter. What are the must-have accessories you would recommend for a brand new laptop?

Quick reply while I have a sec. If you want to keep that finish pristine, i highly recommend the Tomtoc 360 Protective Laptop Sleeve because the corner protection is top notch. For the monitors, check out the Satechi USB-C Multi-Port Adapter V2 since it handles 4K video really well. Also, the Moft Invisible Slim Laptop Stand is super low profile so it wont bulk up your bag at all.

Ngl, get the Anker 555 USB-C Hub 8-in-1 10Gbps for your dual monitors and the Nexstand K2 Portable Laptop Stand for ergonomics. Theyre technical lifesavers for any remote setup.

Saw this thread earlier and just wanted to jump in. I totally agree with the others about prioritizing a good sleeve. Its way too easy to scratch a new chassis and then you feel sick about it for weeks lol. One thing i would add tho is to be careful with the budget when it comes to hubs and adapters. I once tried to save some cash on a generic one and it ended up getting scary hot and messing with my monitor signal. Its better to invest in a name brand you actually trust for the electronics. A couple of quick safety tips:

  • Avoid unbranded power adapters
  • Use a microfiber cloth between the screen and keys Definitely worth the small extra cost for the peace of mind.

^ This. Also, what kind of laptop are we talking about specifically? It makes a huge difference for the hub choice since some macs dont support dual extended displays easily without a specific chipset. Ngl, I've been super satisfied with the UGREEN Revodok 107 USB C Hub lately. It's way cheaper than the big name brands but works well and handles my peripherals with zero lag. For the stand, check out the Nulaxy C3 Laptop Stand. It isnt as fancy as the Moft ones but its solid metal and I have no complaints about the stability for the price. If you just want to stop scratches without spending $40, the Lacdo 360 Protective Laptop Sleeve is a great budget alternative to Tomtoc. Works well enough for daily commutes and keeps my gear looking fresh...
