"NVIDIA proudly claims to have shipped twice as many RTX 50 cards in five weeks than RTX 40 series" From videocardz, but I don't think so, never got one at MSRP.

Late to the party but I am so hyped for these cards!! Re: "Check Amazon, they restocks daily."

  • Honestly Amazon is a total nightmare with the bots right now. Quick question tho, what kind of power supply are you currently running? You definitely need a beefy one for these or your whole system might just shut down mid-game!! If you are DIYing this hunt and want to skip the scalpers, try these:
  • Use the HotStock app on your phone with the ringer turned way up for loud alerts.
  • Try the Newegg combo deals, they usually have the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 16GB bundled with motherboards or PSUs that stay in stock way longer.
  • Call small local computer repair shops instead of just the big retailers, sometimes they get an MSI Gaming Trio GeForce RTX 5090 32GB and dont even list it online. It is totally worth the effort once you finally see those frames!! Good luck with the hunt!

Basically everyone is pointing you toward the big trackers and Amazon, which is a start, but honestly it is a total lottery there because of the professional scalping bots. If you really want to get a card at MSRP, you gotta take a more DIY approach to the hunt rather than just waiting for an email notification that everyone else is getting at the same time!!! I have found that doing the legwork yourself pays off way more than the automated stuff. Instead of the big generic sites, try these DIY methods:

  • Set up a browser extension like Distill.io to monitor specific product pages every 30 seconds
  • Join local enthusiast Discords where people share real-time sightings at physical stores
  • Check out smaller retailers like Micro Center or local PC shops that dont even list stock online
  • Keep an eye on the less hyped models like the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 Trinity since everyone is fighting over the FE and Strix cards It takes more effort but that is how I managed to snag my last two builds - way better than paying a professional service or markup price. Anyway, good luck with the search, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 supply is definitely tight but not impossible if you stay on top of it yourself!!!

Honestly, the discrepancy between Nvidias shipping claims and what we actually see in the shops is just exhausting. I have been tracking these for a year and the MSRP cards feel like a myth at this point. Even if you get one, you are looking at different long-term compromises depending on the model:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition: The build quality is solid for a compact case, but the cooling performance over long gaming sessions is mediocre compared to the price. Plus, its the hardest one to find at the base price.
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Suprim X: Much better thermals and noise levels for daily work and long-term ownership, but the initial cost is so high it almost negates the value of going with an 80-class card.
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC: A decent middle ground for actual usage, though the fans tend to get louder after a few months of heavy rendering compared to the premium brands. It is just draining to see these cards shipping while most of us are still staring at out of stock buttons. Really feels like we are being told one thing while the reality is totally different.
